BELIEFS

ConnectPoint Church is a Bible-based church. That means we believe and practice what is explicitly taught in the Bible. We believe and teach the following:

  • The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and perfectly preserved Word of God. It is true in all that it teaches. As the flawless Word of God, it is our only authority for what we believe and how we live.

    2 Tim 3.15-17

  • There is only one God. The One God has revealed Himself to us as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that is, the One God manifested in and through an authentic human life. The fullness of the godhead dwells in Jesus bodily. To see Jesus is to see God.

    Deut 6.4; John 14.9; Eph 4.4-6; Col 2.9; 1 Tim 3.16

  • People are made in the image of God and to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God's creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us have been marred by sin. This sin has separated us from God and caused many problems in our lives.

    Gen 1:27; Ps 8:3-6; Isa 53:6; Rom 3:23; Isa 59:1-2

  • Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

    Rom 3.23-25; 6.23; Eph 2.8-9

  • The gospel is the good news that Jesus lived a perfect life, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again three days later. We express our belief in the gospel through our obedience to the gospel. We obey the gospel and apply it to our lives by repenting of our sins (death to sin), being baptized in water by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection) with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues. This threefold experience is the consistent pattern of conversion in the early church.

    1 Cor 15.1-4; 2 Thes 1.8; 1 Pet 4.17; Mark 1.15; Acts 15.7; Rom 6.3-4; Acts 2.4, 37-39; 8.9-17; 10.1-48; 19.1-7

  • The church is the Body of Christ, a local community of born again believers, unified through faith in Christ Jesus. It is committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all of His commands. The church also seeks to bring the Gospel to the world. Every person who is born of the water (water baptism) and the Spirit (Spirit baptism) is an integral part of the church as a member of the body of believers. The church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.

    Matt 16:18-19; 18:15-20; John 3: 1-21; John 17:11, 20-23; Acts 2:41-47; 5:11-14; 13:1-3; 14:23; 16:5; 20:28; I Cor 7:17; 9:13-14; 12; Eph 1:22, 2:19-22; 3:10-12; 5:22-32; Hebrews 12:23

  • The Holy Spirit is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts to build and sanctify the church, demonstrate the validity of the resurrection, and confirm the power of the Good News. The Bible lists of these gifts are not necessarily exhaustive, and the gifts may occur in various combinations. All believers are commanded to earnestly desire the manifestation of the gifts in their lives. These gifts always operate in harmony with the Scriptures and should never be used in violation of Biblical parameters.

    Hebrews 2:4; Rom 1:11, 12 :4-8; Eph 4:16; 1 Tim 4:14; 2 Tim 1:6-7; 1 Cor 12:1-31, 14:1-40; 1 Pet 4:10

  • Healing of the sick is illustrated in the life and ministry of Jesus, and included in the commission of Jesus to His disciples. It is given as a sign, which is to follow believers. It is also a part of Jesus' work on the Cross and one of the gifts of the Spirit.

    Ps 103:2-3; Isa 53:5; Matt 8:16-17; Mark 16:17-18; Acts 8:6-7; James 5:14-16; 1 Cor 12:9, 28; Rom 11:29

  • As Christians, we are to love God and love others. We are to worship God joyfully and seek to live a life that is pleasing to him both inwardly and outwardly—in our thoughts, words, and actions. We are empowered to live a life pleasing to God through the Holy Spirit. As a Pentecostal church, we believe that the supernatural gifts of the Spirit are at work in and for the church today and are available to all Spirit-filled believers

    Mark 12.28-31; 1 Cor 12.8-10; 2 Cor 7.1; Rom 8.13-14; Gal 5.19-26; Heb 12.14.

  • Biblical Marriage is clearly defined as one man (born a man) united with one woman (born a woman) for life. This covenant is with God and should not be taken lightly or altered to fit personal preferences.

    Gen 2:22-24, Eph 5:22-33, Matt 19:4-6, Mark 10:6-9, Gal 5:24-25

  • We support the family unit as God’s primary institution. The Bible is clear about what God expects of the family and how it is to be accomplished. We believe that fathers have a tremendous responsibility to lead their family, and that parents should teach their children by their own example. Intentional discipleship within families is foundational in the Christian life.

    Deut 6:4-7, Eph 6:1-4, and Titus 2.

  • Jesus Christ is coming again to rapture his church. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life in heaven with Jesus Christ, and the unrighteous eternal death.

    1 Thes 4.16-17; Rev 20.11-15
